While still preserving the AEX brand name, Euronext Amsterdam adopted a new name: Euronext Amsterdam N.V. Later, in 2007, Euronext itself was acquired by the NYSE Group to form the NYSE Euronext. Today, the Euronext has separated from its US parent company and once more operates as an independent entity.
